CMA is proud to host some of the finest artists, intimate house concerts, and prestigious competitions. Our 10 elegant venues feature world-class pianos, including a Royal Piano handcrafted for King George VI in 1940, a Viennese handcrafted Bösendorfer/Kimball Concert Piano, and an official Metropolitan Opera Piano, among other exceptional instruments. Chromatic Music Academy

Chromatic Music Academy is proud to call the historic Karl Plate House home, located at 607 North First Street in San Jose. Built in 1909, this beautifully preserved landmark captures the architectural charm of early 20th-century design.

The Grand Room

The Grand Room features a unique, handcrafted Viennese baby grand piano, a collaborative masterpiece by Bösendorfer and Kimball. The space is adorned with captivating commissioned artwork by local visionary Vanessa Schott, whose pieces bring an elegant yet dynamic ambiance that reflects the fluidity and changes of life.

The Purple Room

The Purple Room radiates freshness and playfulness, making it the perfect space for small ensembles. It hosts Ukulele and Guitar Circles, String Ensembles, and Small Vocal Groups, fostering creativity and collaboration in a vibrant atmosphere.

The Sun Room

The Sun Room is a favorite among the community, cherished for the warmth and positivity it radiates. Thoughtfully designed for one-on-one sessions with young students aged 3 to 7, it offers a bright and welcoming learning environment. Conveniently located behind the Grand Room, it also serves as an artist’s backstage space when needed.

CMA's Lobby and Waiting Area #1

CMA’s Lobby and Waiting Area #1 provide a spacious and welcoming environment for students and parents. These comfortable spaces are perfect for reading, working, or simply relaxing while waiting for sessions to conclude. Visitors can enjoy the harmonious sounds flowing from every room, immersing themselves in the vibrant energy that fills CMA.

The Main Stairs

The Main Stairs leading to the second floor and Waiting Area #2 honor CMA’s 43 founding families, celebrated on March 24, 2024. This milestone marks the foundation of a community dedicated to empowering lives through its unique curriculum, mission, and vision.

The Treasure Room

The Treasure Room is dedicated to CMA’s Distinguished Piano and Chamber Music Programs. This spacious venue accommodates two baby grand pianos and ensembles in session. Its windows offer a picturesque view of the expansive Jackson Street, leading to the vibrant and historic Japantown.

The Metropolitan Room

The Metropolitan Room showcases a rare and historic Metropolitan Opera piano, once used as a warm-up instrument by legendary pianists such as Arthur Rubinstein, Martha Argerich, and Daniel Barenboim. This thoughtfully designed space with both baby grand Pianos invites musicians to connect with the origins of music while embracing their individuality and creative expression.

The Office

The Office is dedicated to meetings with CMA executives and artistic directors, Dr. Seba Ali and Dr. Amr Selim. It provides prospective students and families a chance to learn about CMA’s mission, vision, and educational approach during a pre-tour experience. This welcoming space also serves as a venue for meaningful discussions and meetings between parents and faculty.

The Citrus Room

The Citrus Room offers a serene and bright atmosphere, overlooking citrus trees and seasonal hummingbirds. Surrounded by nature, it provides an ideal space for our Strings and Woodwind students and faculty. The room is equipped for coaching, and rehearsals, offering a professional setting for students to record remote exams and meet with their rehearsal pianist.

The Flower Room

The Flower Room is a dedicated space for vocal and brass sessions, thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of both students and faculty. As one of CMA’s shoe-free zones, it ensures a clean environment for floor breathing techniques, body stretches, and warm-ups.

Wonder Nest

The Wonder Nest is a spacious third-floor room, thoughtfully designed to provide a magical environment for our Early Childhood Music Programs, Drama, and Musical Theatre Classes. It’s an inspiring space where creativity can flourish, offering a serene escape to focus on the wonderful work being done.
