Dr. Jackie Leung

Canadian pianist Dr. Jackie Leung has presented workshops on various musical topics, presented scholarly papers and. performed recitals internationally in North and South America, The Middle East, Hong Kong and the UK at various festivals, educational series and universities. She has also contributed a lecture recital on piano works by Alvin Singleton to the “From the Artist Bench” online series for the Frances Clark Center for Piano Pedagogy, earning direct praise from the composer.

Dr. Leung is grateful to have shared the stage with the International Contemporary Ensemble, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Continuum Contemporary Ensemble and many other fine musicians. She was a recipient of a professional development grant from the Canada Council for the Arts that was used for a residency with Ensemble Evolution at the Banff Center for the Arts in 2019.

Dr. Jackie Leung has a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance from Stony Brook University. She also holds a Masters and a Bachelor degree in piano performance with a minor in management from the Schulich School of Music at McGill University. Dr. Leung also includes Dalcroze philosophy into her teaching style. She has earned an Intermediate Award from the Dalcroze Eurhythmics International Board.

She was also an instructor of Keyboard Lab/Harmony at the Schulich School of Music at McGill (2006-9). She was also an instructor for chamber music and solo piano courses at Stony Brook University (2013 – 2015).

Dr. Leung manages a private studio, teaching piano and theory to inspiring young artists and teachers seeking professional development. She also enjoys being an active adjudicator for festivals, auditions, competitions and for Royal Conservatory of Music examinations.
