With over 50 years of guitar experience, Mr. Ray Furuta brings a lifetime of musical passion and expertise to Chromatic Music Academy. Born in Wisconsin to a family of musicians, his mother was a skilled Pianist and Flutist, Ray’s musical journey began at the age of 10 when he first picked up a guitar. His early exposure to music fostered a deep love for genres ranging from rock, blues, country, and classical to heavy metal.
A versatile musician, Ray has written original compositions and mastered essential teaching skills. His admiration for guitar legends, especially John Petrucci, continues to inspire his playing and teaching. Among his favorite pieces is the beautiful and intricate Spanish Romance, which exemplifies his appreciation for timeless melodies.
Ray has spent the past six years as an educator, dedicated to building strong foundations for students of all ages. He is passionate about fostering confidence and joy in his students, guiding them toward becoming well-rounded students who appreciate the beauty and power of music. Whether teaching tablature, staff reading, or nurturing creativity through original compositions, his approachable and calming presence creates a supportive learning environment where students thrive.
